At Thursday's hearing, parents fought to keep J.J. Rhoads open, a dual-language school in South Dallas. Trustee Ed Turner said it takes only 9 cents of every $100 in the budget to run, and closing it would tell South Dallas the school is "not worth a dime."
- Enrollment: about 3,000 students below expectations
- Rhoads students would move to H.S. Thompson
- Vote: expected at the next school board meeting
